Nicholas Helfrich, DVM
Dr. Nicholas Helfrich obtained an undergraduate degree in Animal Behavior at the University of Indiana in 2004. His research was primarily focused in zoo settings where he studied many species including dolphins, lemurs, and polar bears.
Following graduation, Dr. Helfrich moved to San Diego and worked closely with Dr. Brian Loudis here at All Pets Animal Hospital where he developed a strong passion for avian and exotic medicine.
Dr. Helfrich received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. The following year he completed a one-year medical and surgical internship at VCA Specialty and Emergency Center in Indianapolis, IN.
Dr. Helfrich has returned to All Pets Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian. He continues to have a special interest in avian and exotic medicine along with surgery, dentistry, and diagnostic imaging.
Dr. Helfrich lives with his wife in Oceanside. They currently have two cats (Kingston and Roo), and have big plans for many more pets. In his time away from work, Dr. Helfrich enjoys hiking, biking, traveling and both playing and watching pretty much all sports.
